Feed the Furloughed

Notice:

Today (12-17-20), The Modern Eater team was notified that an individual in our building tested positive for COVID-19.  At TME we are diligent about contact tracing so to do our part in ensuring everyone’s safety, our staff that was exposed will be getting tested and will pursue the necessary course of action. Subsequently, with an abundance of caution we will be postponing the Feed the Furloughed meal giveaway until December, 28, 30 and January 6. We are confident in our safety procedures and our efficacy, but we believe in being transparent and want to make sure that we are all doing our part to slow the spread of the virus in our community. These precautions are NOT required by the city of Denver or the state of Colorado, however, The Modern Eater goes above and beyond when it’s comes to safety first, just like we recommend in all of our programming and community efforts. Again, we are committed to the health and safety of our team and guests with a continued focus on the well being of all. Overview:

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic throughout Colorado, and the subsequent dining restrictions placed upon bars and restaurants, Friends & Family has partnered with The Modern Eater to provide complimentary meals to financially-impacted restaurant and bar employees in Colorado. 

The Partners:

Friends & Family is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing industry-related education programs for employees of Colorado’s food and beverage industry.

The Modern Eater is a podcast dedicated to small, hyper-local food and beverage businesses in Colorado. The Modern Eater airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2pm to 4pm.

How it works

  • The Modern Eater kitchen is the host for this curb-side meal pickup program.
  • Local chefs utilize donated and purchased food items to prepare a to-go meal.
  • Each daily meal will consist of one main item and two sides
  • Meal days: Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Daily meal count: 175
  • Guests call-in to reserve a meal, drive up, receive a meal, and depart.
  • Friends & Family provides volunteers, marketing, and on-site event execution.
  • Participants (restaurant employees) drive up to the back door of The Modern Eater Studio Kitchen, where event staff awaits with a hot meal. 
  • Meals are delivered through open car windows. There is no need to park a vehicle or interact with any staff.

Days: Wednesdays and Fridays Dec 16, 18, 23, 30…

Time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (during TME live show)
